Character Counts In Iowa annually honors an individual who consistently demonstrates good character as a public role model with the Robert D. Ray Pillar of Character Award.
The 2014 Ray Pillar of Character Award recipient is wrestling legend Dan Gable.
The Ray Awards are presented by Character Counts In Iowa and reflect former Gov. Robert D. Ray’s lifelong commitment to civility and character development. The award is presented each spring to individuals who consistently demonstrate good character as a visible role model. Past recipients include Fred Hoiberg, Aaron Kampman, Dallas Clark, Shawn Johnson, Norman Borlaug, and Coach Ed Thomas (posthumously).
Mr. Gable will be presented with the Ray Award at our annual fundraising event, An All-Star Evening, on April 11, 2014!
