Exercising Your Character, a program for fourth- and fifth-graders that combines physical activity with motivational messages, takes place in downtown Des Moines. The event is a partnership between Hy-Vee, Character Counts In Iowa and the Iowa Sports Foundation.
The mission of Exercising Your Character is simple: Get kids moving by showing them that physical activity can be fun and eating healthy isn’t hard. The atmosphere of the two-hour program is electric, filled with music, dancing, aerobic exercise, and inspirational speeches from athletes, coaches, and other role models. Adult or child, it’s hard to stand still when thousands of footsteps and giggles fill the room. The message hits home—physical activity is fun—and we are a bit closer to our goal of a healthier Iowa!
